Plymouth Gin

Harnessing
contemporary craft.

In an ever-expanding gin category, Plymouth Gin remains the original craft product. Handmade to this day at England’s oldest working distillery, Plymouth has been made to the same recipe since 1793, providing a classic, perfectly balanced taste that never goes out of style. Our redesign introduces contemporary freshness and craft without compromising recognition and credibility (or resorting to flat modern graphics). Instead, the ship is redrawn in a deep blue, accentuating the brand’s nautical colour palette and letting white space bring a premium feel. The existing copper colour has been brightened and used with greater restraint for a stronger effect, while brand storytelling has been rationalised and made relevant to a modern-day consumer.

With sustainability credentials in mind, the new design eliminates all single-use plastic: paper labels and recyclable PET closures have been introduced, and the brand’s monk icon is now embossed onto the back of the bottle rather than printed on a plastic wrap. The bottle has been light-weighted, maintaining its iconic ‘sea-green’ colour and ‘sea-worn’ shape while saving 60 tonnes of carbon a year (based on sales of 600,000 bottles). B&B also introduced an ‘eyebrow’ to the bottle structure, helping integrate the label into the overall design to achieve a more sophisticated result.

LIMITED EDTION – MR KING’S

In addition to refreshing the core Plymouth Gin brand, we have worked on limited edition small batch gin ‘Mr King’s 1842 recipe’ and Plymouth’s cocktail range.

An original illustration heroes the single-origin juniper berries hand-picked on the mountains of Frontignano, Italy, while a fresher colour palette and stripped-back design injects the brand with a contemporary feel, reigniting consumer interest in this respected heritage brand.
