The new metrics of success > from ethical impact to personal pride.

by Various on 17/09/2020

For the innovators and idealists we partner with at B&B, there’s more than one way to measure business progress. With metrics that span from ethical impact to personal pride, we take a closer look at what our founders believe success means today.

MAKING OUR FAMILIES PROUD

“Building a business that we, and our families, could be proud of. It’s a simple, but compelling, goal and it has guided Peter’s Yard from the start. It reminds us that success is about more than sales; it’s about partnerships, respect, developing people, creating new jobs and acting with integrity.”

Wendy Wilson Bett, Co-Founder of Peter’s Yard

PEOPLE, PLANET & POSITIVE CHANGE

“We define success as the creation of business that’s better for people and the planet; delivering ethical and sustainable products that inspire positive change. We’re proud to be achieving customer loyalty through these core values.”

Meg Chapman, Co-Founder of Raw Halo

SUPPORTING THE MUSIC WE LOVE

“Whether it’s helping bands connect with fans through collaboration beers, helping music venues serve better drinks, giving fans a reason to get to a gig early, or by hosting gigs ourselves, success for Signature means supporting the music industry. Our most recent initiative – Beer Grants – helped music venues get back on their feet following the hardest 18 months in living memory.”

Sam McGregor, Founder of Signature Brew

CREATING SYSTEMIC CHANGE

As a circular economy brand, success for us is all about changing the system. All the profit we make is given to charities dedicated to funding systemic change in the food industry – a broken system that is negatively impacting our planet. The good news is that we know we’re making a difference with every pint.

COMBINING PASSIONS TO MAKE SOMETHING LOVED

“I’m incredibly lucky to have loved my time as a conservation biologist, and then as a bartender. I’ve always made choices to follow passions over more traditional career routes!

Now, having the opportunity to develop a drink that draws these two lives together brings a tremendous sense of satisfaction. Everleaf wouldn’t exist without the natural world, and by listening to nature, we hope to give drinkers a sustainably sourced non-alcoholic aperitif that really transports you to our biomes.”

Paul Mathew, Founder of Everleaf

POSITIVELY IMPACTING THE PLANET

“We’ve built our business on the belief that plant-based eating does the planet good. Whenever we help someone choose the vegan option, that equals success in our minds. But I’m particularly proud that we run a carbon positive business – from our carbon neutral delivery service to offsetting every order by planting a tree. I just think you have to walk the walk if you’re going to talk the talk.”

Scott McCulloch, Co-Founder at The Vegan Kind.
